Meghan Barp has worked with United Way of Greenville County since 2018. As president and CEO, she and her team work across many sectors to help struggling families in Greenville County find pathways to opportunity and success. Barp has a long history with nonprofit work and philanthropy. Before coming to Greenville, she spent nine years with Greater Twin Cities United Way in Minnesota. She often speaks to national and local audiences on philanthropy, volunteerism, and social impact, and consults with corporations and organizations looking to deepen their community engagement. Barp has received many accolades for her work and leadership. In 2022 she was awarded distinguished alumna of the University of Nebraska Kearney, and in 2024, she was also honored as one of South Carolina’s Top Women in Business. Barp received the Buck Mickel Leadership Award in 2022 for her visionary leadership on key community issues and, in 2024, was awarded the Visionary Leadership Award by the Community Foundation of Greenville. Her community service includes a previous term on the Peace Center board, and she now serves on the boards of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Greenville Technical College Area Commission, and the International Women’s Forum Carolinas, where she is president-elect. “My secret to success is humility and curiosity,” Barp says. “Being willing to learn from mistakes, ask hard questions, and recognize that success is always shared is key.”
