As managing director of VentureSouth, Paul Clark has helped more than 120 companies across the Southeast grow their businesses. VentureSouth is a network of angel investors in the Carolinas, and its members have invested nearly $100 million in companies in the region. At VentureSouth, Clark works to create new angel groups, and he identifies and evaluates investment opportunities, and he also works with entrepreneurs to develop their businesses and attract growth capital. He also serves as general partner of the eight VentureSouth Angel Funds that co-invest alongside the active angel groups. Before moving to Greenville, Clark was a principal at the New York- and London-based PC Partners, a leading large-cap private equity firm with over $25 billion under management. He began his career at NMRothschild & Sons, the City of London investment bank, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions advisory and capital raising services to health care companies in Europe. Clark earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Durham in the U.K. and a master’s degree in medieval history from Fordham University in New York. When asked about the secret to his success, Clark said, “90 percent of success is showing up.” His goal for the next three years is “to make VentureSouth part of the premier platform for investing in alternative assets in the South.”
