Dallas Meacham
Attorney
Turner Padget
Greenville
I am a triplet from Greenville, South Carolina, currently practicing civil defense litigation under the generous tutelage of David L. Moore at Turner Padget, and also I receive the ever-flowing professional guidance of my father and fellow attorney Keith Meacham. I started my career with the Honorable Judge Mark Hayes in Spartanburg, and then after a brief stint with the Greenville Solicitor’s Office, I took a position with Turner Padget where I currently practice with many friends and mentors (shout out to Abby, Chase, Ethan, Anna, David, Haley, and Christine). I have litigated a wide and strange variety of cases covering topics such as car wrecks, breaches of a promise to marry, and misidentified fur coats, and have represented clients ranging from individuals and local businesses to national trucking companies. I feel that Greenville, and the Upstate as a whole, have a tremendous collection of attorneys that I enjoy practicing with and couldn’t choose a better place to practice.
Favorite Quote and Why: I rather enjoy this quote from Oscar Wilde’s "The Picture of Dorian Gray": “I have grown to love secrecy. It seems to be the one thing that can make modern life mysterious or marvelous to us. The commonest thing is delightful if only one hides it.” Because in a world where most every detail of our lives are shared, even those things which are mundane and void of newsworthiness, it's entertaining to have a life that is not on display and kept out of the limelight when possible.
Qualities of a Successful Leader: I think the definition of a successful leader depends less on the leader and more on the needs and preferences of who is being led. Different folks respond to different methods of guidance, and it's important for a leader to be able to provide a form of leadership that conforms with the needs of those being led, rather than forcing your own predetermined style of leadership upon anyone.
Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: Being a lawyer is mostly just explaining rules and laws to someone and then somehow getting blamed as if you were the one who personally authored them.
