Clay Koch
Wealth Adviser
Wagner Wealth Management
Greenville
Age 31
My career in the financial services industry began in 2015, while I was pursuing my degree in international business at College of Charleston. During my time in college, I also earned the Series 7, Series 65, Series 66, and Life and Variable Annuity Insurance licenses. I joined the Wagner Wealth Management team as a wealth adviser in 2024. Outside the office, I am involved with First Tee, a nonprofit organization that aims to make the game of golf affordable and accessible to children of all backgrounds. In my free time, I enjoy golf, ice hockey, and reading. I’m originally from the Washington, D.C., area, but I’ve grown to love South Carolina. My wife Lauren and I have two young children, and we are all happy to call the Upstate home.
Favorite Quote and Why: “Everything you want is just outside your comfort zone.” It's a great motivational reminder for big and small situations — from career-level goals down to making the phone a little lighter in anticipation of a difficult conversation.
Definition of a Successful Leader: I think the key to being a successful leader and wealth adviser is taking the time to truly listen to others. Everyone’s personal situation, goals, and concerns are unique, and meaningful guidance begins with understanding what matters most to them. By listening carefully, a strong leader can determine someone’s values and priorities, revealing the most effective way they can be led.
Advice to 18-Year-Old Self: Be open to ideas, but discerning as to how to spend your time and efforts. And work hard but be patient.
