The Furman University Department of Music's lakeside concert series, the “Sounds of Summer,” is underway. Join the Lakeside Concert Band and guest artists to listen to at least an hour of music every Thursday now through July 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the amphitheater or in McAlister Auditorium on campus. All concerts are free and open to the public.
Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic dinner and a blanket, and get ready to enjoy a cross-section of big band, jazz, international, contemporary and traditional band and orchestra favorites directed by Furman’s Sue Samuels. In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be moved indoors.

Parking Information
For concerts held at the lakeside amphitheater:
Handicap parking for those with proper vehicle identification will be located on Dave Garrett Dr. (the road that goes up to the Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities) and at select buildings at North Village Apartments. There is a drop-off location in front of the Shi Institute building for vans and small buses. Furman requests that cars do not use this road to drop off as it makes it difficult for buses and other large vehicles to turn around.
All other parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will include the following parking lots:
McAlister Auditorium/Daniel Music Building
Roe Art Building
Admissions/Administration Building
Daniel Chapel
Trone Student Center
On selected dates, Southern Valet will provide transportation from the McAlister Auditorium and Daniel Chapel lots to the amphitheater at the Dave Garrett Dr. entrance. The shuttle buses are ADA accessible.
On June 25, the road behind the lake will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at the restrooms. Between 8 and 10 p.m., the road will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians, including the restrooms due to fireworks safety.
