Karen Potter, current board member and past board president at Greenville Literacy Association, has meant a great deal to me. Her leadership is grounded in both clarity and compassion, and she has an incredible ability to see the bigger picture while supporting the people doing the work. Her belief in our mission, our team, and in me personally has been steady and impactful, and I’m deeply grateful for her guidance.
I’ve learned that leadership is less about having the answers and more about showing up, listening, and following through. Some of the most meaningful progress happens in small, consistent moments — building trust, keeping your word, and staying present with people. I’m still learning to slow down and make space for others, but I’ve seen that when people feel seen and supported, they do incredible things.
