How do you define leadership?

I define leadership as the ability to uplift and empower others through empathy, trust, and collaboration. To me, effective leadership means listening deeply, anticipating the needs of those around you, and creating environments where people feel valued, supported, and inspired to thrive. I believe leadership is not about control or recognition, but about bringing out the best in others while remaining calm, compassionate, and intentional. It also means continuing to grow — seeking opportunities to learn from community leaders while maintaining balance and staying grounded in the people who matter most.

What one thing have you learned that has served you well over the years?

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that real leadership requires the courage to advocate for yourself and others, even when it comes at a personal cost. Early in my career, I took a stand for fair compensation and respect for musicians, and as a result, I lost 27 gigs. That experience taught me that integrity and long-term impact matter more than short-term success. It ultimately led me to build a business rooted in collaboration, respect, and equitable opportunities for artists, while mentoring young musicians to confidently advocate for themselves.
