SC Chamber Recognizes Excellence In Workplace Diversity Award Honorees

The SC Chamber honored the winners and finalists of its annual Excellence in Workplace Diversity Awards at the 39th Annual Summit at Kiawah Island on November 27, 2018. This award recognizes companies for their significant contributions to the advancement of South Carolina through diversity initiatives and inclusion efforts. Criteria considered in selecting the winners included diversity initiatives, effectiveness, and applicability/replicability.

“South Carolina businesses increasingly realize that diversity and inclusion are excellent for the bottom line. When we bring together different viewpoints and backgrounds, we cultivate an environment ripe for innovation and success. Not only is it the right thing to do, it’s good for business,” says Ted Pitts, president and CEO of the SC Chamber of Commerce.

Honorees include:

Small/Medium Employer Category (fewer than 1,000 employees)

Winner: Starbucks Coffee Company – Sandy Run Roasting Plant

Finalists: South Carolina Federal Credit Union, Aunt Laurie’s


Large Employer Category (1,000 or more employees)

Winner: Savannah River Nuclear Solutions

Finalists: Clemson University, SCANA Corporation
