BANDWAGON to Compete at StartUp Runway for $10,000 Investment

Nov 01, 2017 12:53PM ● By Emily Stevenson

BANDWAGON was selected as one of nine startups from across the Southeast to compete for a $10,000 prize in Atlanta’s StartUp Runway pitch competition on Thursday, Nov. 2.

StartUp Runway is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to connect the top 10 percent of women- and minority-led startups across the Southeast with sophisticated investors who understand early stage companies. Each startup will make a five minute pitch to an audience of investors, fellow startup founders and executives, and the general public. The winner of the competition, to be determined by an investor jury, will be awarded $10,000 in no-strings-attached capital to further their business plan.

The event also includes a mock board meeting between startup CEOs and advisors and investors familiar with that startup’s market. The mock board meeting gives CEOs the chance to present a real problem their startup is facing and solicit advice from seasoned professionals.

“We’re honored to have been chosen to compete at StartUp Runway,” said Harold Hughes, founder and CEO of BANDWAGON. “The progress that we've made so far is largely due to the support we've had from our investors and partners in the Southeast, so the opportunity to present on this stage allows us to bring more attention to what's going on here in Greenville, South Carolina and the Southeast overall. The companies that we'll share the stage with are incredible so if we're fortunate enough to win the grand prize, we plan to use the funds to develop our stadium identity technology even further, making the gameday experience even more seamless for both sports teams and sports fans.”
