In a Facebook post Oct. 20, 2025, Ellen Weaver said she is running for re-election as South Carolina Superintendent of Education.
“Since 2023, I’ve delivered bold, conservative reforms — advancing the largest teacher pay raise in state history, investing in school safety, leading the nation with phone-free classrooms, and training 20,000+ teachers in the Science of Reading to spark South Carolina’s literacy comeback,” Weaver said.
She added, “Because when hope meets hard work, South Carolina students rise.”
And Weaver continued: “Promises made. Promises kept. And the best is yet to come.”
“Let’s finish the job — watch to see what’s next!” she said.
Weaver was elected as South Carolina's 19th State Superintendent of Education on Nov. 9th, 2022.
Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Weaver graduated from a public school and earned her bachelor’s degree in political science, as well as a Master's in Educational Leadership, from Bob Jones University.
After graduation, she worked in Sen. Jim DeMint's office for 12 years in a variety of roles, finishing her time as his state director.
She founded Palmetto Promise Institute, a leading state public policy organization, in 2013.
