Spartanburg Community College (SCC) has announced a partnership with the Knights of Columbus Council #6076 to honor local veterans with a special banner display across its Spartanburg (Giles) Campus. The banners, featuring the names and images of veterans from the Upstate community, are prominently hung in recognition of their service and sacrifice. These banners will remain hung across the campus through the end of November.
Officials with the university said this initiative reflects SCC’s ongoing commitment to honoring those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces while also providing an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and the broader community to reflect on the contributions of veterans.
“We are deeply honored to be celebrating the bravery and dedication of our veterans,” said Michael Mikota, Ph.D., President of Spartanburg Community College. “These banners serve as a visible reminder to our students and community of the sacrifices made by the men and women who served our nation.”
The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic fraternal organization with a long history of supporting veterans and military families, spearheaded the effort to create and provide the banners. By displaying them on SCC’s Spartanburg (Giles) Campus, the College and the Knights of Columbus hope to inspire reflection, gratitude, and continued support for veterans throughout the region.
