With the help and generosity of its valued customers, the Save A Lot store in Pickens has donated more than 2,000 bags of much-needed, high-quality food to several local charities including Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Holy Cross Catholic Church, Life Church, Pickens School District, Pickens Police and Fire Departments, and the Church of God. Throughout the holiday season, each of these seven organizations were sponsored by the Pickens Save A Lot. Volunteers from each charity filled bags of food that were then purchased by Save A Lot customers. For each week a charity volunteered, bags sold that week were then donated to their organization.

The Pickens Save A Lot store located at 529 Hampton Ave. saw one of the highest number of donations across all stores nationwide for the second year in a row, with valued customers purchasing and donating 2,045 bags – more than $11,227 worth of food – to support families in need. Each bag is stocked with private label and brand name food items, including pasta, stuffing mix and other pantry staples from Save A Lot. To further amplify the contributions made by the Pickens community, Save A Lot is donating an additional $1,000, gifting a grand total of $12,227 worth of food and financial contributions to Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

“We are grateful for the generosity of our Pickens customers,” said Dee Kirby, Director of Operations. “We also want to recognize the hard work of Sandy, the store manager and her entire team — especially Shirley, Nancy, Barbara, Diane, and Hope.  With their dedication to helping others in our community, this success would not have been possible.”
