Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina (GIUMSC) announced the grand opening of its new retail and community destination, Goodwill at the Trail, at 9 a.m. Sept. 24.

Located at the newly renovated 115 Haywood Road location, this venture is a first-of-its-kind experience, blending Goodwill’s mission-driven purpose with dynamic new retail concepts, all directly connected to the iconic Swamp Rabbit Trail.

Goodwill at the Trail is more than traditional thrift; it’s a hub of discovery, sustainability, and community empowerment.

This destination invites shoppers, trail-goers, and neighbors to explore distinct concepts under one roof:

  • Auten’s Loft: A carefully curated boutique offering a treasure trove of high-quality, specialty items at accessible thrift prices.
  • SecondStory: A cozy thrift bookstore where book lovers can get lost among thousands of titles. From bestsellers to timeless classics, every purchase supports Goodwill’s mission.
  • New retail store: A completely refreshed and modernized Goodwill shopping space.

Goodwill at the Trail is also the new home of the Upstate Resource and Opportunity Center (ROC). The ROC is a comprehensive hub providing crucial training, career navigation, and wraparound services that help individuals in the community secure meaningful, life-changing employment.

Every donation and every purchase made at Goodwill at the Trail directly funds these vital programs.

“Goodwill at the Trail represents a bold new chapter for our organization and the communities we serve,” said Pat Michaels, president and CEO of GIUMSC.

“This new venture is an imaginative way for us to connect with our community, but at its heart, it’s another powerful opportunity for our donors and customers to help those in our community. Every item donated and every purchase made creates a pathway for someone to find a new career, allowing them to build a full, sustainable life for themselves and their families. We are excited to welcome everyone to experience this new space and join us in making a lasting impact.”
