Eye Health America (EHA), a leading integrated eye care platform in the Southeastern United States with a corporate office in Greenville, South Carolina, said Jay Burkett has been named chief executive officer.

Concurrent with Burkett’s appointment, Mary Lou Parisi, co-CEO, was named chief growth officer.

Over the last 18 months, Burkett has served as executive chairman of the board, working closely with Parisi, John Swencki and EHA’s management team.

A 30+ year veteran of the health-care provider industry, he has spent his career advising companies on strengthening business performance, often through periods of significant growth and change.

Burkett has held several permanent and interim management positions, including C-level roles at multi-state, multi-site health-care companies.

Parisi, who has been with EHA since its creation, will transition from her current co-CEO role to chief growth officer.

The newly created position will allow her to focus on supporting EHA’s physicians. The organization has grown to 130+ physicians across 60+ locations.

As part of this leadership change, Swencki, co-CEO, will transition from Eye Health America at the end of October, officials said.

Swencki has been a driving force in EHA’s growth, from leading its initial anchor practice, The Eye Associates, to serving as co-CEO alongside Parisi for the past five years.

“We thank John for his years of dedicated service to EHA and recognize his instrumental value in scaling the organization to its current success,” said Sasank Aleti, partner with LLR Partners and EHA Board Member.

He continued, “We look forward to Jay’s increased involvement in leading the organization he has supported over the last 18 months.”

To date, the company has completed 32 partnerships with eye care groups, helping advance its mission of delivering integrated, full-service eye care through a collaborative network of trusted providers and Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Eye Health America (EHA) is an eyecare provider focused on partnering with ophthalmology practices, optometry practices and ambulatory surgery centers across the Southeast U.S.

Member practices include Clemson Eye, Piedmont Surgery Center, EHA Surgery Center Seneca, The Surgery & Laser Center, Carolinas Centers for Sight, Florence Surgery and Laser Center, and many other eyecare providers.

They offer full-service, integrated eye care from routine eye exams, contact lenses, and glasses to medical ophthalmology and surgery including refractive cataract surgery, cornea, retina, glaucoma, LASIK, pediatrics, and oculoplastics.
