The City of Greer Fire Department has again earned the Fire Safe South Carolina Community Designation, joining 207 fire departments across the state recognized for their commitment to reducing fire-related injuries and improving community safety.

Awarded by Fire Safe South Carolina and its statewide partners, the 2024 Community Designation reflects the Greer Fire Department’s ongoing dedication to public education, data-driven risk reduction, and community outreach.

“To be recognized alongside other departments who are truly prioritizing education and risk reduction is an honor,” said Greer Fire Chief Dorian Flowers. “Our team works hard to serve this community beyond emergency calls. Through outreach, education, and collaboration, our initiatives help prevent tragedies. This designation is about more than a title, it’s about saving lives.”

To achieve Community Designation status, fire departments across South Carolina must complete specialized training in Community Risk Reduction, document public education efforts, and build partnerships that address local risks.

The City of Greer has received the Fire Safe South Carolina community designation every year since 2021.
