The Cancer Survivors Park Alliance (“CSPA”) has announced the addition of Lauren Allen Ricker as its new Program Coordinator. In this role, Ricker will oversee the design and delivery of CSPA’s survivorship programming to expand community access, increase engagement, and support survivors, caregivers, and advocates throughout the Upstate. Ricker, a graduate of Furman University, previously supported Sustaining Way and Mill Village Ministries in Greenville, SC. She will continue to pursue her Master of Public Health online with the University of Alabama at Birmingham while exploring the many positive effects of Lifestyle Medicine - a medical specialty that focuses on preventing, treating, and reversing chronic diseases through sustainable health choices that enhance overall well-being. This strategic hire reflects CSPA’s long-standing mission: to engage, educate, empower, and enhance the lives of anyone touched by cancer. It will achieve a vital CSPA goal in bringing accessible survivorship education to the Upstate along a public trail. As the Park welcomes over 2 million trail visitors annually, its impact continues to grow, not only as a serene outdoor destination along the Swamp Rabbit Trail but also as a vital hub for survivorship support and community resources offered by the Upstate Cancer Network.
“Bringing Lauren onto our team is about more than capacity. It’s about deepening the connection between the Park and the people we serve,” said Kay Roper, executive director of CSPA. “She brings creativity, compassion, and the ability to help us build and deliver programs that are relevant, accessible, and rooted in the needs of the community.” Lauren’s arrival comes at a time of renewed momentum for CSPA, fueled in part by the success of Sync for Survivors, the organization’s signature fundraising event. “The funds raised through Sync not only support daily park operations and free public programs but also make it possible to invest in roles like Lauren’s,” continued Roper. “CSPA is committed to offering open-to-all programming that speaks to the diverse experiences of survivorship—before, during, and after a cancer diagnosis. Through her focus and attention, we will amplify our ability to build partnerships and offer resources that honor this journey with dignity, empathy, and purpose.”
CSPA and its organizational partners develop and manage a variety of on-site and online events and programs available to all. The public is invited to learn more about these programs HERE.
