(123rf.com Image) The South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA) is proud to announce that À la Heart GVL, an emergency assistance program supporting Greenville County’s hospitality workers, has been honored with a 2025 ISHA Award of Excellence for Events and Fundraising during the International Society of Hotel Associations (ISHA) Summer Membership and Marketing Conference, which was held in Newport, RI. À la Heart GVL was recognized for its fundraising campaign, which raised significant funds for the launch of the program and increased visibility and awareness in Greenville County and the surrounding areas. This award highlights the program’s success in fostering strong community partnerships and delivering critical support to hospitality workers facing personal crises. Through a partnership with SCRLA’s Greenville Chapter and VisitGreenvilleSC, À la Heart GVL was officially launched on May 6, 2025, during National Travel and Tourism Week. Modeled after a similar program in Spartanburg County (Hubitality), À la Heart GVL provides emergency financial assistance grants up to $2,500 — plus additional support for maternity and mental health needs — to individuals employed in Greenville County’s hospitality, tourism and leisure industry. The program’s year-one fundraising goal of $100,000 was met prior to launch with generous contributions from local partners, donors and grants. Looking ahead, À la Heart GVL has already secured over $223,500 in multi-year commitments and grant funding.
