Posted Tuesday, December 23, 2025 5:49 pm

Alisha Esselstein is a renowned legal professional with a passion for advocating and protecting the rights of individuals and families. As the sole practitioner and leader of Esselstein Law, she brings knowledge and experience to every case she handles.

Alisha's journey began in a rural community in Wisconsin, where she developed a deep appreciation for the values of integrity, compassion, and justice. Fuelled by a desire to make a positive impact on the world, Alisha pursued her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations at Augsburg University in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. This academic achievement was a testament to her exceptional dedication.

Recognizing the importance of gaining firsthand experience in the global arena, Alisha embarked on transformative educational journeys in Nairobi, Kenya, and Cuernavaca, Mexico. Living and studying international law and relations in these diverse cultural landscapes broadened her perspective and deepened her understanding of the intricate complexities of global legal systems.

Alisha's pursuit of legal excellence led her to the prestigious University of Wisconsin Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctor degree and a Certificate in International Law. During her tenure, she distinguished herself as a formidable advocate for women's rights, dedicating her time and expertise to effecting positive change. Alisha's passion for gender equality took her to Sri Lanka, where she worked with the Law and Society Trust, diligently researching and advocating for the removal of discriminatory aspects from the country's constitution while championing equal opportunities.

Continuing her commitment to advancing justice on an international scale, Alisha joined the esteemed International Center for Transitional Justice in Manhattan, New York. As a valuable member of the Gender Justice Department, she played a pivotal role in developing gender-sensitive prosecution trainings for UN Women, leaving an indelible mark on the pursuit of gender justice.

Alisha's relentless pursuit of knowledge led her to the University of London SOAS, where she specialized in human rights law, further honing her expertise and gaining invaluable insights into the intricate dynamics of human rights violations and their redress.

Throughout her academic journey, Alisha garnered numerous accolades and awards, including the Richard Bilder International Law Scholar Award, the Gracie Public Service Fellowship Award, the Women, Well-Being, Wisconsin and the World (4W) Scholar distinction, and the Association for Women Lawyers Scholar Award. These accolades are a testament to her unwavering commitment to academic excellence, social justice, and empowering marginalized communities.

In addition to her legal endeavors, Alisha is actively involved in coordinating seminars on "Women Working for Women in the Public Interest" and "International Advocacy Against Gender-Based Violence." Her dedication to educating and empowering others underscores her belief in the transformative power of knowledge and collaboration.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to her clients, Alisha established Esselstein Law, a distinguished family law firm specializing in providing compassionate and comprehensive legal services. As the trusted guide through life's most challenging legal situations, Alisha combines her formidable expertise, straight-forward approach, and unwavering dedication to achieve favorable outcomes for her clients.

With Alisha Esselstein at the helm, Esselstein Law offers unwavering support and unmatched legal representation to individuals and families seeking guidance in matters of family law, domestic violence, and international law.
