In the previous edition of this publication, our security article considered the importance of South Carolina firms developing comprehensive corporate security programs. Within the context of security and preparedness, understanding and managing risk is paramount. In the context of security risk, we then outlined three elements that business professionals must consider: threats, vulnerabilities, and consequences.
In remarks prepared for delivery in his State of the State address in January, Gov. Henry McMaster said that for the last three years, there have been more opioid-related deaths in South Carolina than homicides and drunk-driving deaths combined. In 2016, this “silent hurricane” killed 616 people, he said.
