Greenville Chautauqua in partnership with the Greenville County Library System presents a Talk Series about the historic lives to be portrayed during the Chautauqua 2020 Season – Teddy Roosevelt, Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Nikola Tesla, Hedy Lamarr and Rosa Parks.
Join an audience that loves talking back to history to discuss Teddy Roosevelt and the reinvention American politics – with AV Huff, distinguished author, public servant, Chautauqua visionary and beloved OLLI teacher. Dr. Huff brings his signature knowledge of all things American history to the legacy of Teddy Roosevelt. TR stepped down from the presidency at the height of his popularity only to four years later, challenge his handpicked successor. He bolted the Republican Party and organized his own Progressive “Bull Moose” Party.
In just over 90 days, he and his campaign humbled a sitting president and decisively beat a party that had dominated national politics for 40 years. – Let’s talk about it.
This event is NOT a costumed performance. Teddy Roosevelt will be performed by Doug Mishler in Winter Chautauqua performances Jan 31 – Feb 3.
