Challenges for the Middle East: An America and the World Lecture
Conflicts over migration and middle east map terrorism have caused Challenges for the Middle East and those invested in the region. A variety of historical, religious, and economic factors have contributed to this complex part of the world and some very complicated issues. Persistent turmoil in the region has made it a powder keg for religious, political, and cultural conflict.
Join WACU for Dr. Buket Oztas' lecture on February 20th to learn more about the political, economic, and religious challenges in the Middle East. This lecture is the sixth in its annual America and the World Lecture Series, hosted by the World Affairs Council Upstate in partnership with Furman University.
Oztas is an assistant professor in Furman's Politics and International Affairs department. Her expertise is in Comparative Politics, with a regional focus on the Middle East. Her research interests fall broadly in the fields of political Islam and regime transitions in the Islamic world.
