Better Business Bureau ® of the Upstate (BBB) will host our annual Secure Your ID Day (Shred Day) on Saturday, October 14th in both Anderson and Greenville. This bi-annual event was created to promote awareness about identity theft and protection. Individuals and small businesses can take advantage of FREE on-site document shredding, electronic recycling, and take home practical tips to prevent identity theft online and off-line. The Greenville event will be held from 9am to 12pm at Better Business Bureau, 408 N. Church St., Greenville SC 29601. The Anderson event will be held from 9am to 12pm at Anderson Mall, 3131 North Main Street, Anderson SC 29621. At each location, consumers and businesses may bring up to 5 small banker boxes per vehicle. All locations will have Goodwill ® Industries, who will also be on site to recycle computer equipment such as monitors, printers and hard drives, which will be wiped by Goodwill ® according to Department of Defense Standards. BBB will also collect used wireless phones, batteries and accessories for HopeLine ® , a domestic violence prevention and awareness program sponsored by Verizon Wireless. All phones donated to HopeLine ® will be scrubbed of data and then refurbished to support victims and survivors of domestic violence.
