Skitch
There are two Skitches, and I guess they are both fabulous. I mention it only because the one I know and love is available for Android phones. It turns out there is another for Mac computers, but not Apple phones. Let me tell you about the one I use. Skitch for Android, which I should also mention was recently purchased by my other favorite smartphone app maker, Evernote, allows you to quickly take a photo and annotate it before saving it. I guess you could do something whimsical with this, like draw a moustache on a co-worker, but I use it to shoot photos of things and then make notes directly on the picture that I might need to use later. I circle things that are important or need attention, I draw arrows to problem areas and even type short notes directly on the photo. The latest version of the app will save notes immediately into Evernote, which means I’ve got them exactly where I need them most of the time. In fact, I’ve got a widget on my Android phones that lets me start with Skitch, take a photo, make annotations and pop them into Evernote with a minimum of button pressing. When a picture is not enough, Skitch helps me get the job done. I only wish there were a version for the iPhone as well. ν
