When Rebecca and Philip Ufkes founded UEC Electronics in 1995, they brought together a unique combination of both engineering and manufacturing capabilities, offering a comprehensive menu of services in design, product development, prototyping and innovation. The company has grown from five original employees to more than 100 in 2011, and other dynamic changes have shaped UEC as well. While the early years were focused on work in the commercial industrial sector, the current client roster is now comprised of upwards of 60-percent Department of Defense work. Rebecca was named the S.C. Small Business Person of the Year, and in 2011 UEC was recognized by Inc. magazine as one of the 5000 fastest growing companies in the U.S. UEC is a graduate of the Navy’s Manufacturing Technical Assistance Program (MTAPP) and the Defense Small Business Technology Readiness Resource (DSTARR) program. The company is currently participating in the DoD Mentor-Protégé program with Raytheon.
