Michael’s Way is a 501(c)3 agency responding to the issues of poverty and lack of education in our community. In our efforts to someday eliminate these issues, our agency is growing by “leaps and bounds” and becoming known by many in our community.

By the end of 2010, we served 44 new clients, surpassing our original goal of assisting 27 clients for the year. As of March 1, 2011, we have already provided assistance for 40 individuals with an additional 23 working through our process. We fund technical certification courses, text books, work-related clothing and shoes, equipment and immunizations, as needed. Most of our clients attend Greenville Tech and take Quick Job Technical Certification Courses to be “work-ready” and able to return to the workforce immediately.

Thanks to two local grants, Jan R. Howard has been named Executive Director of Michael’s Way. Howard has been volunteering in the nonprofit sector since 1986, focusing on agency and board development, volunteer recruitment, fund raising and special events.

“My passion is to help those less fortunate and that’s what Michael’s Way does,” says Howard. “I am honored to be working with a dedicated board of directors, supporters, partner agencies and volunteers and look forward to furthering these relationships. We are proud of our expanding role of development and vision for the future of those in need of a job or a better paying job for a better way of life for themselves and their families. There are many ways you can be a part of our accomplishments; not only for our agency, but for the success of all the individuals we have served and are yet to serve. We welcome your involvement as we continue helping people build new lives to become more self-sufficient citizens in our community.”
