Google in Greenville Event
In March of 2010, John Warner was asked to lead an effort to respond
to Google’s request for proposal to pick a city to build a high speed, high
bandwidth fiber to the home network. He pulled together a team of 30
technology entrepreneurs and local government officials to discuss how
to put Greenville on the map and grab Google’s attention. Aaron von
Frank led a small group of entrepreneurs to quickly generate the public
support necessary to bring more than 2000 people together for the Falls
Park event. The organizers also created www.wearefeelinglucky.com, a
web site devoted to courting Google Fiber to come to the Greenville area,
and urged residents to get out and vote to keep Greenville alive in the
tight competition.
