The first Famous Toastery in Greenville will be open for business starting Wednesday, July 19, at 104 South Main Street in Poinsett Plaza.

Franchisees Cindy and Peter Stone have lived in the area for 27 years. Cindy taught at Northwood Middle School for 26 years before retiring, while Peter currently works at Spartanburg Community College. Both are looking forward to transitioning into the restaurant business.

“One of the main reasons we decided to open a Famous Toastery in Greenville is that we wanted to be involved in the community,” Cindy said. “After years of being an educator, I wanted to give back in a different way.”

Famous Toastery is currently hiring and looking to fill 30 to 35 positions. Founder & CEO Robert Maynard says more positions could open up in the future as the franchise looks to continue growing in Greenville.

“We see a lot of potential here in Greenville,” Maynard said. “We know this first location is going be successful and we’ve already started targeting additional locations in the area.”

The new location on South Main Street will be the Stones’ first restaurant, but they don’t want to stop there.

“Right now, we’re really focused on the opening,” Cindy said. “But we are also looking down the road and thinking this is somewhere we want to keep growing.”
