GREENVILLE, S.C. —United Way of Greenville County’s “Be a Book Bunny” project is encouraging reading by putting new books in the hands of more than 1,800 children this spring.
Employees at 51 companies and organizations, as well as members of United Way’s Young Philanthropists, volunteered to fill tote bags with new books and other small treats for children served by United Way partner programs.
“We want every child to have access to good books at home because being able to read on grade level is so important to a child’s success in school, now and in the future,” said Ted Hendry, president of United Way of Greenville County. “We are so grateful to all of the volunteers and companies for joining us to improve early literacy and school readiness in Greenville County.”
The tote bags were delivered to children served by 18 United Way partner programs, reaching more than 1,800 children.
