On December 15, 2016 Pendleton Place received a check for $229,913 from SYNNEX Share the Magic, an annual fundraising initiative created by SYNNEX Corporation.  SYNNEX Share the Magic provides funding for children in the Upstate who are facing challenges such as life-threatening illness, abuse, neglect or developmental delays.

In 2016, SYNNEX Share the Magic raised more than $1.5 million to support four Upstate nonprofit organizations: A Child’s Haven, Clement’s Kindness, Make-A-Wish South Carolina and Pendleton Place.

“There are many deserving organizations in our area,” said Peter Larocque, President, North American Technology Solutions for SYNNEX Corporation and Founder of SYNNEX Share the Magic. “Pendleton Place was selected for the remarkable work they are doing right here in our community, and SYNNEX is proud to help them fulfill their mission to reach more families and make a lasting impact.”

Since 2011 SYNNEX Share the Magic has raised more than $6.6 million dollars for Upstate children and their families.

“This gift could not have come at a better time,” said Kathryn Johnson, executive director of Pendleton Place.  “Last year Pendleton Place served more than 591 children and families and we are on track to exceed that by ten percent this year. The fact that SYNNEX Share the Magic raised more money this year means Pendleton Place will have the support we need to serve more children and families this year. It is such an honor for Pendleton Place to be chosen as a recipient of these funds. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who had a part in making this possible.”

The mission of Pendleton Place is to keep children safe and to support families in crisis through prevention, assessment and intervention. Envisioning a community where children are safe, families are strong and victims become whole again, Pendleton Place provides critical services aimed to protect, equip and heal vulnerable children, youth, young adults and families. The dollars provided by SYNNEX Share the Magic will provide the critical support needed to make a tangible impact on those served through four main programs:

·         Assessment Center (AC) - A multi-agency evaluation of families led by Pendleton Place to identify root causes of neglect or abuse and establish recommendations for a plan to improve the well-being of children

·         Connections Count (CC) - Support and mentoring that equips young adults in need to lead successful lives as independent adults

·         Family Bridges (FB) - Safe custody exchange, parent education and supervised visitation for families

·         Smith House (SH) - Residential home for teen girls.

Since 2011 SYNNEX Share the Magic has raised $955,530 for the children and families of Pendleton Place. “We appreciate all the support SYNNEX Share the Magic has provided for Pendleton Place since 2011”, said Kimberly Witherspoon, Pendleton Place Board president. “We cherish the relationship and partnership we have developed and simply could not serve all the children and families we do without their support.”
