Columbia will be this year's host city for the 2017 SC Nonprofit Summit and it's just around the corner. The Summit is the SC Association of Nonprofit Organizations' (SCANPO) annual conference where hundreds of nonprofit leaders and business partners come together to share ideas and network. The event will be held at the Downtown Marriott from March 6-8 and is SC’s largest nonprofit professional gathering. SCANPO will also celebrate its 20
“The main purpose of the Nonprofit Summit is to bring together nonprofits from across the state to engage in thoughtful discussions related to new opportunities, trends and celebrations within our state’s nonprofit sector,” explained Madeleine McGee, president of SCANPO. “Hosting the Summit in Columbia is fitting because we will be celebrating a huge milestone for our organization. Columbia is where it all started for our association.”
The three-day Summit includes in-depth workshops, plenary sessions, site visits to local nonprofits and more than 60 breakout sessions focused on operations, communications, advocacy, fundraising, leadership, community impact and more. Over 100 nonprofit professionals will be presenting during the conference.
Rhett Mabry, president of the Duke Endowment, and Tom Keith, president of the Sisters of Charity Foundation of SC, are currently serving as co-chairs for the event and leading the efforts to oversee the program. They are supported by the Summit’s steering committee, which is comprised of nonprofit leaders throughout the state.
“The Summit is the only professional conference in South Carolina that is created for nonprofit leaders by nonprofit leaders,” said Keith. “It provides us with an opportunity to come together as the state’s nonprofit community.”
“Being together as a group allows us to challenge ourselves and to energize our sector so we can build upon the incredible work we are doing within our local communities.”
Registration and details for the event are available at summit.scanpo.org.
