Will Dennis is the poster child for radical career changes. In the space of a couple of years, Dennis swerved from serving as head of the family’s tire business, Consolidated Tires, to owning a radical new personal care business, Hand and Stone Massage, which is between Trader Joe’s and Target on Woodruff Road.

Dennis, born and raised in Greenville, graduated from USC and went on to work at Consolidated Tires. “In 2004, upon my father’s retirement, I became president and was responsible for the day to day operations. In February 2009, we decided to sell the business and to search for a new opportunity,” he says.

That new opportunity is Hand and Stone Massage. Dennis says what attracted him to launch this new wellness business is the quality of the people, “In my previous career at Consolidated Tires, I learned that your business is only as good as the people working in it. During my search, I was very impressed with the leadership and support staff at the Hand and Stone Franchise Corporation. They are knowledgeable about the wellness industry and passionate about their brand. I quickly became comfortable with the direction of the company and the other franchise owners. The business model is sound and proven, which also gave me the great confidence, Lastly, this business is fun. You have the opportunity to help people and work with professionals.”

Hand and Stone Massage offers a wide range of the usual massages and facials, including reflexology, trigger point and sports massages. But they are also on the cutting edge of medical massage like craniosacral and oncological massage for cancer patients.

Dennis has hired a staff certified in all aspects of massage, as well as estheticians who specialize in facials of all types, including those used to combat teenage acne or aging.

“Our clients are 75% female, 25% male. We offer introductory specials every day starting at only $39.95, and what’s really unique about Hand and Stone Massage is that we are the only spa offering a membership without a contract. For only $49.95 a month you can enjoy either a 50-minute massage or facial monthly. If you miss a month, the packages roll over.” Dennis has his own special massage preference, “Our signature hot stone massage is incredible. Clients comment daily that they have never had a stone massage like ours.”

Hmm, sounds like the perfect antidote for the after Christmas doldrums.
