SCRA’s Knowledge Economy development program, SC Launch, under the direction of Dave McNamara, recently announced an additional $30 million Proterra investment to help the program reach new heights. Proterra first joined the SC Launch program as a landing party and has since received bridge loan funding and support services from the program. SC Launch, an SCRA program, assists entrepreneurial start-up companies with up-front counseling, seed-funding and access to a powerful resource network. The SC Launch mission is to help generate knowledge economy jobs in South Carolina, enhance the state’s quality of life and provide opportunity for all South Carolinians in the new economy. SC Launch recently presented a “big check” investment to Senex Biotechnology, Madeira Therapeutics and EnviroMix. The group was named Nonprofit Organization of the Year by the 2011 American Business Awards and was recognized by Forbes Magazine as a Top Entrepreneurial Support Company.
