The Heirloom Companies Wins Big At Sixth Annual Bridge Awards

The Heirloom Companies was recently honored for its skill and leadership at the Home Builders Association of Greenville’s 2018 Bridge Awards Gala on April 4. The company was recognized with the Best Special Feature award for Best Staircase at an Upstate residence and Ben Moseley, Heirloom’s head of operations, was honored with both the President’s Citation award and the Richard A. Ashmore, Senior, Associate Member of the Year award.

“We saw incredible work produced by the best teams in the Greenville area this past year,” says Matt Shouse, HBA of Greenville’s President. “The HBA of Greenville is excited to honor its membership with these awards as a testament to their ability and character in the industry.”

The Home Builders Association of Greenville recognizes excellence in craftsmanship, service to the industry, commitment to the community, and member recruitment and retention, with a variety of awards through the Bridge Awards. The awards are divided among three main categories: individual, sales and marketing, and craftsmanship.

“I am honored to be recognized for these awards, along with the rest of the Heirloom team,” said Moseley. “The HBA of Greenville is just like anything else—you get out of it what you put into it. Ten years ago, I reached out to Michael Dey and asked how I could get more involved. My active participation has allowed me to make connections and grow in ways that would have not been possible otherwise. For that, I am grateful.”

Best Special Feature—Best Staircase

The Best Special Feature award focuses on new and improved ideas in the home building industry. This custom, open riser, exterior iron spiral staircase is 72-inches in diameter, spanning all three stories of the residence. The four-inch center pole soars to an amazing 31 feet in height.

The stair treads are crafted from exotic Brazilian Walnut, also known as Ipe Wood, which is known for its strength, beauty, and natural resistance to environmental exposure. LED lighting accents each tread with a subtle glow, illuminating the beauty of the wood and making the stairway safe to traverse in the dark. Each wooden tread is made of two separate pieces to allow for drainage of moisture, and to provide visual interest as well.

The metalwork is finished with black powder coating, and the spiral structure blends perfectly with the horizontal railing used elsewhere around the home’s exterior with half-inch round balusters, and one-inch square newels placed at the nose of each tread.

Richard A. Ashmore, Senior, Associate Member of the Year—Ben Moseley

The Associate Member of the Year award recognizes an Associate Member of the HBA of Greenville who has made an outstanding contribution to the association. Moseley is a current HBA of Greenville board member and is in line to serve as president of the organization. He has also served as the Southern Home & Garden Show Committee Chairman for nearly five years, increasing volunteer participation for the show.

President’s Citation—Ben Moseley

Each year, the president of the HBA of Greenville selects a member for special recognition for their contributions to the association during that president’s term. James Speer, HBA of Greenville’s 2018 president, chose Moseley, along with Bill Kane and Jennifer Willis, for the President’s Citation award.
