First Look at AC Hotel by Marriott: Renderings released of new Camperdown hotel

Greenvillians were given their first look at the new AC Hotel by Marriott, one of the key components of the currently-under-construction Camperdown development.

Owned and operated by Greenville's Auro Hotels -- the company behind the building that kick-started downtown's renaissance, the Hyatt Regency -- the "upscale, lifestyle-oriented" AC Hotel "will feature 196 rooms, including five luxury suites," according to a statement.

Inspired by European architecture -- Spanish in particular -- the 196-room AC Hotel will feature a Main Street bar and tapas restaurant, a speakeasy, and a 16,000 square foot rooftop bar and event venue. Common space elements will draw from "Greenville’s textile heritage and the Greenville News," which saw its longtime HQ leveled to make way for the Camperdown project before moving off of Main to a new building.

Camperdown is expected to fundamentally transform downtown Greenville, with some speculating that the so-called center of downtown will shift to the new development. And with good reason: Bank of America has already announced they will move their downtown offices from ONE Plaza to Camperdown, while long-time Greenville business firm Elliott Davis recently announced it will be moving its headquarter to Camperdown.

Falls Towers, the signature high-rise at Camperdown recently released new renderings and details about its luxury condos, while just steps away from Camperdown, the boutique hotel The Grand Bohemian Greenville is set to break ground April 17.
