Anderson University, SCETV Team Up to Broadcast 11th Annual President’s Gala

For more than a decade, the Anderson University President’s Gala has been can’t-miss entertainment for communities across Upstate South Carolina.

Now, the rest of the state has the opportunity to experience the pageantry and artistic excellence that’s become a hallmark of the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University.

That’s because on Monday, January 21, at 8 p.m., South Carolina Educational Television (SCETV) is broadcasting the 11th Annual President’s Gala for a statewide audience, bringing to fruition a longstanding goal of showcasing AU’s student performers to those outside the Anderson community.

“Broadcasting the 2018 President’s Gala is terrific next-step for our annual year-end pops celebration,” said Dr. David Larson, dean of the South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University. “It is also a great opportunity to share the strength and vitality of our performance programs with the rest of South Carolina.”

The annual show features performances by Anderson University’s musical theatre dance team; commercial music ensembles; orchestra and choirs; and student soloists. The show is an hour-long program available on SCETV channels statewide via cable at SCC or SCETV or channel 29.2 on digital antenna.

Dr. Larson encouraged all lovers of the arts, as well as supporters of the South Carolina School of the Arts, to tune in for the broadcast while making plans to attend the 12th annual President’s Gala, scheduled for Saturday, April 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets for this year’s performance, held at AU’s Henderson Auditorium, are available online.

“The South Carolina School of the Arts is spreading its influence across the state,” Dr. Larson said. “The production process has been exciting and dynamic. We look forward to sharing these 55 minutes of enthusiastic performances with our friends throughout South Carolina.

“The lyrics of our finale number says it best: ‘We’re going to another level!’”
