Farmhouse Tacos team to open throwback pizza joint on Laurens Road

Dec 26, 2018 04:08PM ● By Chris Haire
Laurens Road is about to get a new pizzeria with a decidedly nostalgic flair thanks to the team at Farmhouse Dining Group.

Chris Williamson, who co-owns the group with his wife Katie, says the new restaurant Farmhouse Pizza will be farm-to-table driven like their Travelers Rest eateries, Farmhouse Tacos and Hare and Field.

"We are going to take that same chef inspired approach," Williamson says, adding the team will once again be relying on the talents of Chef Melissa Plumley, Farmhouse Dining Group culinary director, to craft the menu. Farmhouse's April Riggs will once again be in charge of the front of house and bar programs.

The pizzeria will be located at 1813 Laurens Road, the long-time home of Monterrey's Mexican Restaurant. "We are going to start construction in the up and coming weeks and hope to be open in early spring or late winter," Williamson says. A help wanted ad has already been posted to Indeed.

Farmhouse Pizza will feature 15 specialty pizzas, including the classic-inspired (like the Monster Pepperoni) and some wildcards (like the Roman, a white sauce pie with julienned bacon, chives, capers, chopped sea clams, and egg, a welcome addition for pizza lovers who've been waiting to get their runny yoke-on-top-of-a-hot-pie fix).

Williamson says Farmhouse Pizza will also offer Korean BBQ chicken wings, panini, and even that old throwback, the personal pan pizza.

An ode to the pizza parlor of yesteryear, the new Laurens Road eatery will have air hockey, old-school video games, and lots of TVs.

"We want it to be a hangout for kids and adults," Williamson says.
