Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) will be the fifth U.S. airport for a premium common use airport lounge designed by MAG USA. The company will invest more than $1 million in the 2,500 sq. ft. Escape Lounge.

The lounge will open this fall. It will include hot and cold food and beverage choices, comfortable seating, high-speed wi-fi, and up-to-the-second flight information.

“This Escape Lounge will allow us to offer all passengers a premium sanctuary after the security checkpoint and before boarding their flight,” said Dave Edwards, GSP’s president and CEO. “It’s important for us to create an enjoyable airport experience from ticket purchase to destination. This lounge will contribute to that experience.”

Each Escape Lounge’s food offerings are developed by an award-winning local chef, using locally-sourced ingredients wherever possible. The search for GSP’s esteemed chef is underway across the Upstate.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the continued expansion in passenger amenities at Greenville Spartanburg International Airport,” said Rosemarie Andolino, president and CEO of MAG USA. “Our Escape Lounge will deliver the flavors of the local community which has firmly placed itself on the map as a foodie destination.”

Escape Lounges are part of the American Express Global Lounge Collection, which gives American Express Platinum Card members complimentary access, along with two guests, to all U.S. locations. Others wishing to enjoy the lounge can pay $45, plus tax. Reservations made online at EscapeLounges.com prior to arrival receive a $5 discount.

“GSP is excited to work with a respected partner, like MAG, while creating a unique experience for our passengers that will celebrate the South Carolina Upstate’s cuisine,” said Scott Carr, GSP’s vice president of commercial business and communications.

Greenville-based Mavin Construction is the contractor for the project. This is the fifth major contract win for MAG USA following existing Escape Lounges already open in Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP), Oakland International Airport (OAK), Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO), and Bradley International Airport (BDL).
