Fluor Corporation (NYSE: FLR) announced that the U.S. Navy’s Naval Sea Systems Command and the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) have jointly awarded contracts to Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fluor, to manage the Naval Nuclear Laboratory beginning October 1, 2018. The contracts have a 10-year period of performance, including all option years.

“We are very pleased that the U.S. Government has placed its confidence in Fluor to ensure the continued preeminence of the nuclear Navy’s vital missions,” said Tom D’Agostino, president of Fluor’s Government Group. “Fluor is committed to the expeditious and efficient transition of these contracts without disruption to the employees and their current operations. We look forward to ensuring that the Naval Nuclear Laboratory continues to deliver excellence to the men and women of the Navy who support our national security.”

The scope of the contracts includes management and operation of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory with four primary facilities in New York, Pennsylvania, and Idaho.

For more than 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation’s submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and is comprised of more than 7,500 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
