Jul 05, 2018 01:39PM ● By Kathleen Maris

Rebuild Upstate has reached its 100th home repaired in 2018, a month earlier than last year and setting a record for how quickly it reached the milestone.

“With such a huge need in the community, we continue to press forward to repair more homes each year,” said Chris Manley, Rebuild Upstate’s president/CEO and founder. “This accomplishment is a result of the community’s support, the passion of our volunteers, and the planning and execution of our amazing staff.”

Rebuild Upstate has set a goal of repairing 200 homes in 2018 - a 25 percent increase from last year. Currently, the organization has more than 1,100 homes on its waiting list. Repairs needed at these homes ranges from roofing to flooring, plumbing to electrical, HVAC to steps and decks. Rebuild Upstate uses an innovative model of matching volunteer groups with projects to complete many of its projects, maximizing its resources and engaging the overall community.

Rebuild Upstate invites anyone interested in learning more about affordable housing preservation to attend Wake Up with Rebuild 2018. The event is set to take place Thursday, September 13, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at the Warehouse Theatre. This is a free informational session that promotes the mission of Rebuild Upstate and will detail how preserving owner-occupied homes is a necessary component of solving our community’s affordable housing challenges.

“Wake Up is a great way for people to learn a little more about what exactly Rebuild Upstate does within the community,” said Melanie Pozuc, Rebuild Upstate’s development specialist. “It is also a great networking event and to find out how you, your company, or your church can get more involved.”
