South Carolina receives an “A” in manufacturing and “C-“ for logistics in a report from Ball State University.

South Carolina improved from "B" to "B+" in Diversification, "C-" to "C" in Tax Climate, and "F" to "D-" in Human Capital. The state maintained the grade of "A" in Manufacturing and Global Position, "C" in Benefits Costs, and "C-" in the Logistics and Liability Gap. South Carolina declined from "C" to "C-" in its Productivity and Innovation grade.

South Carolina experienced a decline in two-year growth in manufacturing value added between 2014 and 2016, according to the 2018 Manufacturing and Logistics Report Card released by the Ball State Center for Business and Economic Research (CBER) and Conexus Indiana.

“U.S. manufacturing and logistics are in a remarkable period of expansion,” said CBER Director Michael Hicks.
