Escape Artist Greenville Announces Expansion

Nov 10, 2017 09:48AM ● By Emily Stevenson

Escape Artist, Greenville’s only independently designed and operated escape room, will be expanding its size in a new location to add additional challenges and new features to the popular entertainment experience.

Escape Artist Greenville’s expanded location, found at 209 E Stone Ave, will be just a few doors down from their current location. The new space will be five times the size of the current space. While the current location offers two permanent escape rooms and a traveling escape room, the new location will allow for four permanent escape rooms and some additional space for seasonal or experimental challenges.  Escape Artist Greenville plans to be operating at the new location by mid-November.

Owners Will and Kim Rutherford opened the original Escape Artist Greenville in March 2016 after years of channeling their creative energy into haunted houses, Halloween parties and private events for friends. The Rutherfords capitalize on Will’s engineering background and Kim’s passion for design and detail to conceptualize and create each escape room challenge from scratch, ensuring a unique immersive experience for every visitor every time.

“We don’t just offer escapes, we offer experiences. We call it ‘full immersion,’” said Will. “We want you to feel like you’ve stepped directly into the storyline of your favorite adventure movie. Our larger space will allow us to bring that experience to even more people.”

In addition to general admission group experiences, Escape Artist Greenville also offers corporate team building opportunities. Each escape room puzzle requires players use teamwork, communication, and logic to complete the challenge, making them ideal for corporate teams looking to engage employees in a unique, fun way. The expanded space will allow the business to offer corporate meeting space on site in addition to the escape rooms, completing a full business package for corporate outings and retreats.

“This move really allows us to get creative with our space and work with different sized groups,” said Will. “We want people to think outside of the box when it comes to teambuilding events, entertaining friends who are in town, or even just a night out downtown.”
