Sep 21, 2017 10:40AM ● By Emily Stevenson

The Greenville Chamber's leadership has elected Phillip A. Kilgore to chair its board of directors in 2019. Kilgore, a shareholder at Ogletree Deakins, has served on the Chamber’s Board for the past five years, and on its strategic cabinet as vice chair of business advocacy.

Kilgore takes on the highest leadership role for the Greenville Chamber in 2019. He will serve as chair-elect throughout the next year as Greenville Technical College President Dr. Keith Miller chairs the Chamber’s 2018 board of directors. As chair-elect, Kilgore will chair the Board of Advisors, a group of business and organization leaders who meet quarterly to review business community progress and needs, and plan specific Chamber initiatives.

Current chair Brenda Thames notes, “Phillip is deeply involved in important initiatives for our region, especially in the area of business advocacy. Over the years and specifically this past year, Phillip led the Chamber in responding to the business and advocacy needs of our community. In his role as Vice Chair for Business Advocacy, Phillip has been instrumental in ensuring the Chamber has a voice in policy decisions that impact the business community. With the vote of unanimous approval from the Board, we are confident that Attorney Phillip Kilgore will serve our Chamber, our Investors, and our community well with a focus on the future of our economy.”

According to Kilgore, “I look forward to leading the Greenville Chamber board in 2019. Much of my public service has involved working to open doors for others. Thus, I am particularly excited about the Chamber’s efforts to create opportunities for more of our citizens to participate in Greenville’s success and prosperity. These efforts fit well with the Chamber’s vision for a globally competitive Upstate economy in which our businesses thrive.”
