United Ministries’ Transformation Walk, Oct. 1

Sep 19, 2017 02:04PM ● By Kathleen Maris

The United Ministries' Transformation Walk will be on Sunday, Oct. 1, starting at 12 p.m. at Fluor Field. Celebrating 28 years, the Transformation Walk raises awareness about poverty in Greenville and helps to fund solutions. The event provides funds for job skills training, adult education, financial stability programs, emergency assistance, and homeless services.

Presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System, the Transformation Walk is expanding this year to offer participants more opportunities for fun and engagement. The event begins with a block party on Field Street at noon, featuring a food truck rally, live music from The Erica Berg Collective, games, and entertainment. A block party raffle will raise money for United Ministries and include three prizes: a BMW performance driving school class, four Michelin tires, and $500 worth of Spinx gas discount cards.

Walkers will follow a 3-mile route that passes service agencies in downtown Greenville who are serving our neighbors in need. Volunteers along the route hold signs with local poverty statistics.
