Greenville Women Giving kicks off twelfth season
Sep 18, 2017 12:42PM ● By Kathleen MarisGreenville Women Giving (“GWG”), a local women’s collective philanthropic and grant making organization that serves Greenville County, held a kickoff event for its twelfth season of “learning, working and giving together” on Wednesday night at The Hyatt. The event featured keynote speaker Amy Crockett, M.D. of Greenville Health System’s Nurse-Family Partnership, which in 2011 received a $60,000 grant from Greenville Women Giving.
“We [were] delighted to
have Dr. Crockett speak to our members about the progress of GHS Nurse-Family Partnership,”
said Janet Sumner on behalf of Greenville Women Giving’s four co-chairs. “Greenville
Women Giving is proud of the part our grant played in helping to expand their
important work. As we enter our twelfth year, we have been able to see the impact
of learning together and granting collectively across many areas of our
community. We look forward to supporting more great organizations this year and
into the future, and we invite all Greenville County women to join us.”
“Putting the significance of gifts like
Greenville Women Giving’s into context, GHS Nurse-Family Partnership is now
known as the star site for this program across the Southeast based on our
patient outcomes,” explained Dr. Crockett in her remarks. “Even though it's a
health-based program, the Nurse-Family Partnership has other benefits that have
impacted areas like juvenile justice and education, too. We have been able to
take Greenville Women Giving's grant and use it to generate sustainable growth."
Nurse Manager Elena Huston stated that GHS Nurse-Family Partnership has conducted more than 27,000 site visits, serving nearly 1,100 families to date through the program.
